Folkloras konference "Folksong: Text and Voice"
20.–24. septembris
Jūrmala – Lielupe, viesnīca "Zinātnes nams"

1994. gadā Latviešu folkloras krātuve par godu Krišjāņa Barona "Latvju dainu" izdošanas simtgadei un Johana Gotfrīda Herdera (Johann Gottfried von Herder, 1744–1803) 250. dzimšanas dienai rīkoja starptautisku zinātnisku konferenci "Folksong: Text and Voice" ("Tautasdziesma: teksts un balss"), kas norisa no 20. līdz 24. septembrim Lielupē. Konferencē piedalījās Latvijas, Igaunijas, Lietuvas, Vācijas, Ungārijas, Kanādas un citu valstu folkloristi (pavisam 44 zinātnieki no 11 valstīm), darba valodas bija angļu un vācu. Konferences organizācijas komitejā: Kārlis Arājs, Dace Bula, Jadviga Darbiniece, Iveta Politere, Aldis Pūtelis, Beatrise Reidzāne, Zaiga Sneibe, Jānis Stradiņš. Barondiena oktobrī togad netika rīkota.

Arī Latvijas Kultūras akadēmija ar zinātnisku konferenci atzīmēja "Latvju dainu" simtgadi. Konference "Folklora un mūsdienas" notika 1994. gada 14. oktobrī, tajā referēja Guntis Eniņš, Vilis Bendorfs, Valdis Zeps, Jāzeps Rudzītis, Janīna Kursīte, Iveta Tāle u. c.
